Matt began his academic journey as an Athletic Training student at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA). After completing an internship at Williams College, he discovered his true interest for strength and conditioning, leading him to shift his career focus. He graduatedΒ from MCLA with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences before advancing to Appalachian State University, where he earned aΒ Master of Science in Strength and ConditioningΒ with a research emphasis. His academic pursuits continued as aΒ research fellow at the American Museum of Natural History, where he solidified his interest in motion capture, biomechanics and human performance. This experience inspired him to pursue aΒ PhD in KinesiologyΒ at the University of Connecticut, where he now serves as aΒ graduate assistant under Dr. Laurie Devaney. He is also an instructor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at UConn. Matt’s research focuses onΒ injury prevention, rehabilitation, and strength training to optimize athletic performance and recovery through the utilization ofΒ motion tracking, inverse dynamics, and wearable technology.

Matt is a certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist with Distinction and a Certified Performance and Sports Specialist with Distinction (National Strength & Conditioning Association). He is also a Sports Performance Coach (USA Weightlifting) and holds a level 1 certification from Precision Nutrition.
