CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS – UConn Institute for Sports Medicine Research Seminar Fall 2022

The UConn Institute for Sports Medicine, established in 2020 as a collaboration between UConn Health and UConn Storrs, brings together nationally recognized researchers, clinicians, and physicians who are committed to the health, performance, and longevity of athletes. Through our work, we seek to advance knowledge and best practices through wide-ranging, game-changing research. We proudly apply our research and medical breakthroughs so athletes of all ages and skill levels benefit from our comprehensive care and education. Our mission is to improve the understanding, prevention, and treatment of sports-related injuries through the institutional pillars of clinical care, education, engagement, and research.

We invite presentation proposals for a collaborative internal seminar to be hosted in the Kinesiology Building (home to the UConn Institute for Sports Medicine Running Clinic) on the UConn Storrs campus on November 29, 2022, from 5:30-8pm. There will be a social gathering from 5:30-6PM where refreshments will be served. The UConn ISM Collaborative Seminar welcomes submissions from any discipline that intersects with the academic study of human health sciences related to sport-related injury and/or performance. The symposium will feature:

  • Keynote presentations by Professor Dr. Kristin Morgan and Dr. Neal Glaviano on their research related to human movement biomechanics and neuromuscular function related to lower extremity joint function
  • Presentations by UConn/UConn Health faculty and students selected through submitted proposals.
  • Panel discussion

The format for accepted proposals will be a 5-minute platform presentation, and research speakers will join the keynotes in a moderated panel discussion. We invite ALL faculty and students to submit a proposal in the area of human health sciences related to sport-related injury and/or performance and attend the seminar. Students from all UConn campuses are welcome. We encourage submissions from works in progress as well as finished projects.
