Biography:

Kyia Barnett received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Athletic Training from Plymouth State University in 2019, with Cum Laude honors. She is a Certified Athletic Trainer through the BOC, and a Licensed Athletic Trainer through the State of Connecticut.

Prior to UConn ISM, Kyia started her career as the Head Athletic Trainer at Stafford High School 2019-2022, contracted by Integrated Rehabilitation Services, and then proceeded to Hartford Public Schools 2022-2023, contracted by Trinity Health. Expanding her Sports Medicine career, Kyia now serves as the Head Athletic Trainer at Bloomfield High School.

Kyia fell in love with Athletic Training and Sports Medicine from being a live-long athlete with experiencing her own injuries and injury rehab programs. She loves covering/watching Football the most, and sees as a specialty area in her Sports Medicine practice. In her personal time, she is an avid weightlifting, hiking, and loves to cook!
